that is very true and I agree with you on that but for some it is a very interesting process.

John S., what you suggest is true and can certainly work for most people.

But, you are talking about a coach with a lot of down time for remodel. I want to go and not worry about repairs and updates. There is certainly a cost involved but I'm not sitting at a repair/remodel shop. I'm on the road.

Let me add to that about older coaches. Say you have a 500-700K coach for a new one or you buy a 10 year old coach for 125K. You can replace the fridge with a residential for 2000 and you will need to change out the fuel lines and the air bags and that is about 4K and maybe the AC units for another couple thousand total depending on how many. The water heater or heating unit usually last and the aquahot lasts a long time. You can totally remodel the inside for about 20K too. I put in granite and flat screen TVs and new sink and backsplash and new bed too. It all is about 40K for everything. SO you can have a fairly new coach for 150 or so.

i would say 04 or earlier as there is no EGR with that year I think.

I have a 01 Foretravel and know that 99-02 are the best years they made. Lots less pollution stuff and better milage.

We had good luck with our coach that had the particulate filter regeneration system. We drove that coach for 7.5 yrs and put almost 70,000 miles on it with no trouble from the engine (Cummins 425 hp).

The particulate filter system would go into a regeneration cycle once about every 8K-10K miles. We were clean burning and we average about 7.7 mpg (40,039 lbs.).

Our new coach has the particulate filter system along with DEF (diesel exhaust fluid). At almost 12,000 miles, we are rolling right along. The system did go through a regeneration at about 11,000 miles. Since we had 3,100 miles on it at delivery, I don't know if it happened before we took delivery or not.

If a person looks at only coaches without the latest emissions, the coach is getting older, there could be many age related issues starting to pop up.

I agree 2003 to 2004 because of price mainly. They aged enough to be much more inexpensive but still new enough to enjoy.

We had good luck with our 2004 with the Cummins engine.

It may sound kind of odd but I liked the years when the economy was booming, with less government interference (pre DEF) prior to the economic crashes of '08-'09. At that time the rv market was doing pretty good and production lines had experienced personnel who were still concerned about a quality build. Of course, credit was easy then but we didn't use it. All that being said it works out to roughly '03 to maybe early '07. Certainly no later but maybe a little earlier.

My brother and I both have 99 HR endeavor's, my dad has a 2001 endeavor. All DP's, two with the cummins ISB 5.9 that run perfect, and one with the 7.2 CAT that also runs perfect. The build quality is beautiful. These were built to last.
