You could also have someone wire in a new fuse panel. The panel itself is nothing mystical, wires go in, a fuse protects the line and a wire goes out. A good electrician can fabricate a replacement. What exactly broke on the current panel? If it was just the mounting bracket, it can probably be repaired with some glue.
The box has actualy come apart and he said it looked like a bird had started a nest under the box and damaged some of the wiring.The mechanic said he had never seen anything like it and had worked on much older homes that the fuse box looked great.
