While the mechanic may be correct, I would be placing my bets on the usual suspects, members the Rodent family. Hopefully, all that was damaged was the fuse box. I would be doing some close inspection of all the wiring, vermin have a habit of chewing on wires and creating short circuits and fire opportunities. Sure hope the tide turns on your rig soon.westernrvparkowner wrote:
The low mileage almost assuredly had nothing to do with it. Age is the issue. A salvage yard is going to be your best bet for an identical replacement. You could also have someone wire in a new fuse panel. The panel itself is nothing mystical, wires go in, a fuse protects the line and a wire goes out. A good electrician can fabricate a replacement. What exactly broke on the current panel? If it was just the mounting bracket, it can probably be repaired with some glue.
The box has actualy come apart and he said it looked like a bird had started a nest under the box and damaged some of the wiring. The mechanic said he had never seen anything like it and had worked on much older homes that the fuse box looked great.
The mechanic said that was also a possibility. He was going to get down in there and clean it out good and do a good inspection. He said that one of the the relays had already been re-wired outside the fuse box for what looked like wire damage.
