We have the online version, and we do use it, but there are a couple of things to point out. First, it is not intended to include all campgrounds, but simply the ones the author has personally been to. It also does not rate them on any type of scale. Also, while we had good luck using it last year when we were out west, not so much this year in the New England states. One recommended park we simply left after we paid, because it was so bad ~ grass, pouring rain, we would have sunk to our knees, tree issues, etc. Another park in Ohio stated which rows to request. NOT ONE road could you get down due to trees. Not one. Maybe ok when he was there, but not now. Each state we visited this hear we had issues with parks in this book. Sometimes it helps, but not as big a fan as I used to be.

How big is considered a big rig? Over 40' and over?

The sad news is all of these campground "books" don't list every campground in the country, just the ones that have contacted the publisher or the publisher has contacted them. The camp club membership ones are even more limited to places that give their discounts.

We use our Woodalls because the listings do show what size rig will fit in their spaces but we also take notes when traveling so we have a better idea of what is available that is not listed in any book. We also belong to Passport America. We found PA has very few campgrounds in areas we are likely to visit. Only twice in 10 years has it been helpful whereas Woodalls has been very handy.

For example...in the state of Nebraska many of the small towns have donation fee sites and limited boondocking in their city parks. There is a 4 site RV park in the town 4 miles from us but they do not list/advertise in any RV book. So, there are places out there but it is sometimes hard to find them.

I've never been sure just what a "big rig" is or if ours falls into that category. So far, I rely a lot on RV park review and simply look at what has been said. Than a phone call to the park in question usually answers any question I might have. Occasionally it's necessary to unhook the toad but that's a small thing and often do it anyway while DW is checking in.

Personally, I wouldn't spend the extra $$$$ for another campground director...just get a new Woodalls every three years.

We use RVparkreviews too, as well as Google Earth, to try and get a good view of trees, etc. I would doubt, after this year, that we would spend the money on the Big Rig book/site again. Too many bad experiences this past travel season.

We have it and some of the parks we found thru this book have been great!
I like it.

We have had the online version for about a year. We won't renew. There are relatively few parks listed with no rating at all. We have visited some of the parks listed and have not been pleased. Also our experience is when TL/Woodalls specifically says Big Rig they usually have wider roads, trimmed trees, and good access. Also our experience asking for specific sites as listed in Big-Rigs directory is not very welcome at most campgrounds. We call and ask for a reservation for a 45' MH towing a car and have had no problems.
