At how many miles should new shocks be considered? - DaveinetExplorer

I bought the shocks directly from Koni. Koni tells me I must talk to the dealer. I keep trying to explain to them that they are the dealer. Basically their customer service is brain dead. I have another set that was bought from Country Coach, as they had the model I needed. Country coach doesn't exist, so as a secondary issue, if the Koni dealer goes under, then Koni will not acknowledge warranty.
Daveinet... what is their reason ? - Don_DonExplorerNeither.....Monroe gas.
- Dale_TravelingExplorer III have year old Bilstein's on the back and month old Koni's on the from. Both shocks perform the designed function of reducing suspension oscillation and wheel hop. The difference is the Koni's seem to be softer on the initial suspension movement. When I run over a bump the front feels much like my car but once the rear hits the same bump the dishes rattle along with everything else. I guess you could say Bilstein's would be great for a furniture van while the Koni's are a good choice for a people mover.
Something else that was different. The Bilstein's will extend to full length out of the box while the Koni's I had to extend to line up with the suspensions mounts. The effort to compress the Bilstein's was about the same as to extend the Koni's. - bobkatmsuExplorer IIAt how many miles should new shocks be considered?

- DaveinetExplorerThe Koni FSD was a great idea, but mine completely wore out in about 30K miles and Koni won't step up to their lifetime warranty.
- J-RoosterExplorerI had Bilsteins installed on my W-22 just before I left for Arizona last year and they are way better than the worn out factory shocks that were on there. I'm very pleased with the ride no more side to side or porpoising coming off driveways or freeway expansion joints. Please note that Winnebago changes there chassis every 4 years so you have to get the VIN number and year when ordering. Example : my coach is licensed as a 2004 (was finished at factory Jan. 15th 2004), but the chassis is from Oct. 2003 so if I would have ordered 2004 shocks they would not of fit on the 2003 chassis. Hope this info helps you.
- PF_PMExplorerKoni's got rid of the SWAY when big trucks passed and crosswinds. Better ride and cornering too.
- GoldencrazyExplorerKoni shocks are great. The large/heavy motorhomes can compress Bilsteins but my 30 ft did not and Koni FSD represented a definite difference on small bumps, expansion joints etc.
