The last post doesn't make sense to me. In the OPEN position, the seal is free to flex with changes in temperature. So over a long period of time it might, making it hard to close.
In the CLOSED position, the seal is resting on the valve, everything is in the position you want when you're using the tank. Might take a little jerk to open, but it should slide back closed easily.
