Black tank to toilet seal

Hi

We have a leak on the top of the black tank to toilet. I believe that there is normally a spigot on top of the tank were a seal is. Wanting to get the correct seal before lifting the toilet up I would like some information please as toilet seal kits appear to have the seals for higher up!
The toilet is in a Fourwinds Majestic 27G and I think it is a Sealand Dometic 320 or 310 gravity?

Thanks

  • Just for a follow up for anyone reading the thread in the future. As I had suspected the leak underneath from around the tank to pipe spigot entry was not found to be a seal to toilet (it would have leaked inside then) Having removed the toilet the spigot needed replacing as fractured and leaking. Whilst the spigot is screwed to the floor it is also of a smaller diameter than the hole in the tank! So in order to stop a full tank from overflowing the area around it was filled by sealant when built (about 1/4 inch gap!) This then makes it very difficult to get out. It is possible also for this leak to have come from a failed seal around the spigot to tank.
    Parts are
Dometica floor 3 inch flange item 385345892 $9.19 Amazon
Dometica flange seal item 38531006 $20.13 Amazon

I also found that the original build had the securing bolt of the toilet flange to raised extension from the floor done up at the back and difficult the get to. When refitting turn the clamp around for easy of access fitting and if you have to dismantle again :)

Hope that helps some one else!
  • RV toilet just like the toilet in house is bolted to a floor flange

Gasket goes between toilet base and floor flange. Only difference is RV toilet uses a soft rubber cushion gasket and the house toilet uses a wax ring

HERE is manual for your toilet.

Figure 1 item F is the flange seal

Figure 5 shows where it goes

  • The seal under the toilet is a rubber gasket formed as a short funnel, and there is a black tube that is flush with the floor or step up, rubber gasket seals the toilet to floor and the black PVC tube, make sure that the wood under and around the seat is not rotten or has dry rot, after the seal is replaced tighten the seat and re tighten a day later, the rubber seal will compress a bit be careful not to over tighten the nuts the toilet will crack.
