Bob......Good for you....I see soooo many people try and repair these valves. They're $15.00 brand new and take about 15 minutes to install. It's made easier with a 1/4" drive socket set. I use grease on the new seals to hold them in place.
"enblethen's" technique with the milk carton sides is a great tip and works well. As long as you're doing the black, do the grey to for peace of mind.
