In Lake Havasu City, AZ. there are many RV Parks the big 3 are on the Island you have to cross the London Bridge to get to them they are : The Islander, The Beachcomber and Crazyhorse all very nice with Lake Views average price for a RV Spot is around $500.00 plus electricity! There are free camping BLM sites to the North and South of Lake Havasu City, AZ. they have no hook ups (dry camping only) you have to go to the BLM Office, which is on Hwy. 95 on the south end of town (the Lake side of the Hwy.) to get your free permit to camp. If I remember the BLM Office is across the street just before you get to Bashas Grocery Store. Also you cannot camp on any BLM Land on the Lakeside of Hwy. #95 all the way down the Colorado River. As Dennis stated the nicer BLM Sites are one hour South of Lake Havasu City, in Quartzsites, AZ. Take Hwy. #95 south of Quartzsites go over the I-10 overpass, staying on Hwy. #95 drive for 1 mile (it's the Hwy. going to Yuma), and you will be turning left into La Poza BLM Recreation Site last time I was there it was $40.00 for 2 weeks or $240.00 for 7 months and they have water, garbage, and a dump station there on site. There are also people from Quartzsites that will bring you water or pump your coach black tank out if you don't want to move from your spot! I hope this information helps you!
There are lots of 2 week boondocking sites that absolutely free around Quartzite. The only time you pay $40.00 for two weeks is if you want to park in one of the Long Term Visitor areas, then it will cost you the $40.00 and or the $240.00(used to be $170.00 not sure what it is now) for 6 months.
As far as Quartzite area being nicer than around Lake Havasu, that would depend on the individual, myself I prefer Lake Havasu areas.
