Blowing out water lines
I am hesitant about just blowing out my water lines to winterize. How does that affect the water pump when it has a backflow valve? I am afraid the water pump won't be winterized. I had an RV salesm...

What you could do, after you blow, is to get a couple hoses with 1/2 inch threads and attach one to each side of the water pump only. Then pump some pink stuff through the pump and catch it in a bucket. Shouldn't take more than a glass full to do it. Then in the Spring, get a bucket of fresh water and pump it through the pump only and catch it in the bucket again. This will clean out the pump from any residue pink-stuff. Then reattach both hoses to the pump for your camper.

Why not? I turn the electric pump on when I'm running air through the system and open the bypass valve on the discharge side of the pump. Lots of air comes through and I've had no problems the last 6 years of doing that (and it gets cold here in Minnesota).
