The fact is, if you read the manual on your pump, you will find that it is designed to take a hard freeze without damage. All the pump is, is 3 rubber bladders that compress with the rotation of the motor. There is nothing to break, and the rubber just stretches. While it certainly is not a bad idea to let the pump run dry, as it will pump out the feed line to the pump, it is not critical to get the pump totally dry. I hate the pink stuff, takes too long to get rid of. Shower always feels slimy for several tanks usages afterward. In the 11 years that I have been RVing, I only used the pink stuff once, and have not since. I replaced the pump when I bought the coach, and it has been just fine through all 11 years of ownership.
