It's not easy. Going up will require partial disassembly of the engine (removing the cylinder heads and such) and using an engine hoist either thru the driver's door or thru the living area of the coach.
Not necessarily. Everything I read on the Internet said I had to 1) build a rig to lift the engine out and 2) take the heads off to fit it through the door.
I built a rig and bought a chain hoist. I built a plywood platform to span the hole so I could set the engine down and drag it toward the door where I could grab it with my cherry picker.
I was just about to get started on the removal when my brother said "Did you actually measure it? Did you try to get the cherry picker in the driver's door?" I felt silly, but I hadn't done either of those things.
Turns out the boom on the cherry picker that I've had for decades reached just fine. I had already taken the heads off the bad engine. But, after measuring the new one I found that it would go through the door with the heads AND valve covers on it. I only had to remove the exhaust manifolds. No rig, no chain hoist, no plywood platform. Just reached in and grabbed it.
Now I have this big, indestructible A-frame I built sitting in my way collecting dust.
So my advice is to measure and try the easy way first.
