Very Sorry! Let me try to help you? Same thing happen to me 2 months ago. 2008 Winnebago, 32 ft. Workhorse with 19,499 miles. 8.1 L.GAS. Here's the out come!!!!
Tow Bill $300.00 to tow yard.
Tow bill $200.00 to Workhorse Dealer.
Tear down to find out and I quote; from service advisor;
"Inspect and found engine oil pan had been hit from inside cause from broken connection rod. Disassembled and remove engine and found #3. exhaust valve has dropped into cylinder, causing extensive damaged. It appears the #3 exhaust valve spring (appears keeper came out), bent and broke #3 intake pushrod and lifter and bulge into the oil pan when the connecting rod hit. Workhorse dealer theory is that the guide plate broke and cause the push rod to go off center and make the rocker arm push on the spring instead of the valve end. This allowed the spring keeper to dislodge and the valve drop into the cylinder causing the damage." end of quote.
6 weeks later, missing two week vacation, and only 19,499 miles, the Workhorse Dealer stated they do everything they can to help persuade Navistar (now owns Workhorse)to help me out on the bills, BUT!!!!!! I was 18 months over warranty date. of 5 years or 100,000 miles.
