Bolting stuff down?

I always think about things flying around in an accident so I bolt them down. As for dinette chairs, I'd use straps that I connected before driving off.

Securing items is one of the things that is an acquired skill when owning an RV. I've used home made brackets, bungee cords, rope, bubble wrap and a number of other devices to secure things when traveling. I do it primarily because I don't like hearing things flying around back there. But as another poster said, in the event of a crash, loose items in the coach do become projectiles.

On mine the chairs "interlock" with the table if you put them all the way "In".

No, I do not bolt/strap everything, but I do pack with motion in mind.

I used to wrap my wine bottles in bubble wrap but now I just buy it buy the case and leave it in the box. Much less work. :)

Never bolt anything down and nothing ever moves. If you're in a wreck you got far bigger issues to deal with that things moving.

As said we prepare our coach with motion in mind, including unexpected hard braking. Small counter top items in the kitchen and bath go in their respective sinks, the insulated coffee carafe goes in the kitchen sink bungee corded to the faucet spout, my laptop goes on the floor under the dinette table, a small side table goes upside down on the couch held by a seat belt, my wife's computer table and laptop move to their travel position in front of the passenger seat for use underway, hanging plants go in the tub/shower, and the residential refrigerator door latches are locked. Other miscellaneous small items and daily meds go in two under the dinette table drawers. Our OEM swivel rocker is bolted down. The entire inside travel prep takes about 10 minutes.

Thanks for the responses! We are taking a 22 day trip in it in a month and a half...I'm sure I'll learn a lot during that trip of what I should have strapped down and what will ride (like dishes, inside drawers, etc.)

No, we never bolt anything down but do pay attention to possible movement during travel. Never had a significant issue with furniture except for slight movement on rough roads or the occasional hard braking event. I now put the ottoman on the recliner seat but that's it.

Biggest problems are the wine glasses "tinkling" or forgetting to tightly close a cabinet door or drawer. You will learn the areas that need attention as you get used to the coach. Earthquake putty is your friend.

You will learn, I was on a trip by my self.Didn't latch freezer door well. Ice bucket and frozen chicken rolled around the floor until I could find a good place to stop and clean it up. Objects can become flying missiles in a wreck.

Speaking of the devil, on this trip we had our table tip over. Hard left turn on a round about. First time ever that the table has moved. Fortunately we never store stuff on the table.
