Bolting stuff down?

New to Class A. Do you experienced people bolt/strap everything down when traveling? For example, our table has traditional chairs...they rode well for the 1.5 hour trip home from the dealer but I wonder about sudden stops or, worst case, a wreck. Likewise, we have a coffee table (from Camping World) with the folding legs. Would you leave that sitting in the aisle or fold it up and strap it down somewhere? Also, we were thinking of taking the loveseat out and putting in a swivel rocker, should that be bolted down or could we just let it ride?

Thanks for the advice!

  • I used to wrap my wine bottles in bubble wrap but now I just buy it buy the case and leave it in the box. Much less work. :)

On mine the chairs "interlock" with the table if you put them all the way "In".

No, I do not bolt/strap everything, but I do pack with motion in mind.
  • Securing items is one of the things that is an acquired skill when owning an RV. I've used home made brackets, bungee cords, rope, bubble wrap and a number of other devices to secure things when traveling. I do it primarily because I don't like hearing things flying around back there. But as another poster said, in the event of a crash, loose items in the coach do become projectiles.
  • I always think about things flying around in an accident so I bolt them down. As for dinette chairs, I'd use straps that I connected before driving off.
