Does anyone know anything about the Born Free for 2. I am looking at one online and there aren't may pictures. I'm assuming the couch folds down to a bed. Nice looking rig, just looking for any help
The Built for 2 (BFT) model was one of the most compact (21-22') and most straight-forward models BF built. It features a simple design -- living / dining room with either a jackknife sofa bed or single beds on either side of the center aisle, a small but efficient galley kitchen, and a "wet bath" combination bathroom & shower. Some designs featured a rear door, rather than a side door, which became the basis for our custom floorplan when we had BF build our wheelchair accessible
"Mobility RV". (Look for floorplan #3)
The
Leap'n Lions web site is very active, and we'll be glad to help you. Several of our members still have BFT's. Also,
this link has a 2008 factory brochure with the BFT on the first 2 pages.
When the latest generation of Dodgens took over BF management, one of their first changes was to "update" the brand's image with new, more modern interior designs. As a result, the simplistic BFT was replaced with the "Jewel", with a side door replacing the center aisle and rear door floorplan.
Despite these changes (which are, albeit, attractive), one thing has never changed -- the Born Free quality design and construction. That's why these classic Class C units remain a good used RV buy, if their owners have maintained them.
