Bounder "Classic" Info.....

I can't address quality issues from experience because we just brought our new '14 Bounder Classic 30T home a couple of weeks ago and are preparing for our first shake down trip. I can say, however, that after spending several months looking at MH's that we were impressed with what we saw in the Bounder Classic. The overall build quality was much nicer than other small entry level coaches we looked at.

Now that we have it sitting next to the house, I hope I don't read a bunch of negative feedback from unhappy owners about them. Maybe I shouldn't look at this thread anymore. :)

Our used new to us '11 Bounder only has the annoying minor problems. I'm a tinkerer so I fix these to have something to do. Keep a list and get your dealer to fix anything you find.

I can't comment on the Bounder Classic, but I did purchase a used Class A from LaMesa in Sanford last year. In what I thought was a twist, the sales people delivered everything they promised. The Service Department, on the other hand, flat out lied about several issues, to the point of telling me the manufacturer include items on the original window sticker that they didn't install on any coach. When they made the follow up call about our experience, I told the caller about this and that several problems had never been fixed and we were told they couldn't do anything about them. The caller promised that a 'higher up' would be in touch with us soon. It's been 11 months and I'm still waiting for that call.

Can't comment on the Bounder Classic but Bounder has for the most part over the years had the reputation of being a solid entry level coach. I also have not heard anyone complaining too loudly about LazyDays RV sales but I have heard a lot of people say they had a good experience there. The PO of our older Bounder had all of his service done there and he spoke well of them.

We have a 2011 Bounder Classic 36R. We bought it with 1200 miles on it. We have experienced a few very minor problems and one big one. We lost all electric because of a short and had to have the power supply rewired. The minor problems are the normal things you see on motorhomes. Cabinet finishes, minor leak in the slide seal during a heavy rain, propane alarm.

None of these were terrible and were easily fixed. We have put over 10,000 miles on our 36R and are very happy with it. We did remove the couch and put in home theater seats.

We would consider another Bounder again if we were looking for another coach.

I will not let the service department at la mesa touch my rv. We winter in the Sanford area and no one I know who has purchased an rv thru la mesa has had a good experience. La mesa is known for over promising and under performing.

I do not think that the Bounder Classic is an entry level coach. Thor ACE, Storms and Terra are lower level. I agree with others that the Bounders have no more problems than most other RVs. They changed hands recently, since 2008 and I looked at the 31R or T and was impressed. The DW looked at the Thor Vegas and comparing the two, a 26' on a 350 chassis and the 31' Classic, I would choose the Classic.

Overall size aside, I don't buy the claim of 13 MPG and better for the 350 based Vegas over the usual 6 to 8 on the 450 based Classic and would buy one if I had the money. They are out the door for about the same price.

I took the list of standard features of the Vegas, 31' Classic and my 1990 Bounder and it is amazing how well furnished the Classic is for basically the same price. The Winnie Vistas are also what I think are bargains.

So if you really like the Bounder floor plan and features, in my opinion they are a real bargain.

We looked at the Bounder Classic last year when buying our first MH. The one we were considering was the 1-1/2 bath model. The competition was the Winnebago/Itasca Vista/Sunstar 35F twins. After about the fifth time looking at the Classic we discovered the furniture was very uncomfortable for sitting. Also, the Classic as a rubber roof as compared to the Winnie fiberglass roof. Aside from uncomfortable furniture was what we perceived to be much better build quality in the Winnie. The Winnie has several features to set it ahead, i.e., sonar type tanks sensors that are very accurate. The engine actually preheats the hot water heater with the engine coolant so you arrive at the campground with a full tank of hot water. Many other little things. To get the same comfort and floor plan we would have had to go up to the regular Bounder with its more comfortable furniture.
Winnebago is the same company as it has been, weathering the recession with the same ownership.
