Ford re-rated (and possibly adjusted the tuning of) the V10 engine. There are no physical changes to the basic engine. If you look carefully, you will find that the RPM at which the power is rated also changed.
I think the changes were made to meet emissions standards; either sound or exhaust or both.
By all accounts, the real world performance of the revised engine and new transmission is better than, or at the least no worse than, the older version.
