There is a white wire on the harness and two orange. The white has a splice that goes to the trailer brake controller. The white and the two orange go about 18" and disappear into a larger group of wires from numerous directions.
On the column, I find a strand of wires together, white, green, purple, lt blue, dk blue, yellow, etc. Is this the wire you are referring to? I'm slightly confused.... if I have voltage at the switch, is it coming down the white wire from the column or coming from the two orange wires? If the white is hot then the switch in the column shouldn't be an issue, and if the current is going the other way, why would it go through the column?
Not doubting you just trying to understand the engineering.
