I use engine braking religiously. Even when coming to a stop when I'm towing, to keep my brakes nice an cool in case I REALLY need to stop. I'll even throw it into 2nd at 70MPH and let the engine slow all 25,000 pounds to about 50 MPH without touching the brakes. The PCM will modulate the 2-1 downshift so it won't make too much pressure where it can cause damage.
