I had a system that depended on electronics (and a vacuum pump) to work (Unified Gear System). After having it fail 3 different times, in the middle of long trips, I replaced it with a Ready Brake. That was 3 years ago. No problems since.
And I can sure tell the difference between when the toad brakes are working and when they are not. I hated limping home without the toad brakes working with the old electronic system.
