I was ready with my credit card to make a deposit ( is $5000 the norm?).
Guess they get more people than I thought ready to drive over 3000 miles round trip to buy a MH sight unseen.
No. Not necessary. A unit this old (almost 3-years old) and still in stock? That's a bad sign. I'd buy a 2015 or 2016 unit more local to you. BTW, I added up the RT mileage as 3,600 - according to your other post. - et2ExplorerAsking 40 - 45% for a two year old MH is a good starting point. They have to pay to keep it on their lot and keep the maintenance up on it (required by the mfg). Start out by going over the obvious possible issues - tires just sitting with the sun and weather beating on it without moving ( tire issues for one) - generator needs to be ran regularly ( how many hours on it?) - how are the batteries being maintained ( are they charged and topped off) - engine ran to keep seals lubrictaed and fluids circulated properly ( how many miles on it and engine hours). If they haven't drove it to lube the transmission - good luck.
Look at ways to pick it apart as these things could very well be issues - warranty or not. It could mean a lot of problems down the road and lots of time in the shop. If they won't move - suggest they pay for the exteneded warranty above the normal engine and chassis. - twitExplorerOK; I'm moving on like Sherry. The dealer with the 2014 wouldn't budge off of 31%. Found a 2015 at La Mesa and their initial quote was for 30% off. But, I've heard La Mesa doesn't negotiate much from their "best price" quote...True?
- VinCeeExplorerSmart move Sherry!
- derouen6Explorertwit,
There is not much to update.
The dealer with the 2014 never came back with a counter offer and neither did I.
The 2014 is still there. I would wiggle up if he would wiggle down. I am now looking at the same model in 2015s.

In about 45 days this DP will be 2 year models old. It was manufactured in 7/2013.
What % off should I offer?
No trade, cash deal.
Thanks for the advice.
Sherry
I always read these "how do I buy" blogs and crack up.
1) the dealer is stuck looking at an invoice when they received the unit. That WILL NEVER change, doesn't matter if it is one year old or 5 years old sitting in their inventory. That's what they are dealing from.
2) Just remember the moment you buy it and drive it home you have just now incurred 2-3 years depreciation, if you find yourself needing to sell it this could be huge. NADA is not kind to RV's.
3) Dealer seems nice? They are all nice till they get your money. Check is in the mail, dog won't bite, etc. Buyer beware always.
30-35% is normal invoice to retail. You may be better off searching for a LOCAL floorplan RV you like, where you can physically inspect it yourself.
My advice is from a 2nd generation auto dealer...
FYI...bought our MH from a dealer, didn't STEAL it, bought it at market at the time, but loved the floor plan and colors. In fact we had a shopping list and it had 20 out of 25 wants. So we pulled the trigger. Buyers always say, I got a great deal or I stole it! LOL...Doesn't matter...you must do your research like Dennis says and choose the floor plan and other amenities that suit you and your family...My 2 cents - twitExplorerSherry,
Do you have an update for us? I just found myself in the same position on a new 2014 coach... - DachristianmanExplorerHow much can you find the same model, used from a private seller for? Just because a used one may have 5K miles on it doesn't mean it's that far from the dealer's lot. If you can find one for sale from a private party, then you'll at least have one number to work from.
That's my $.02, and worth about as much.
Tom - VinCeeExplorerI would be in the 35-40% area. The way I figured my 2011 when purchased exactly one year old in 2012 was 25-28% off MSRP first year new (which Georgetown provides) and then 10% each subsequent year. I used that same formula arrive at a price for my trade in on my Allegro. On our initial price volley, the dealer and I were 14K apart. I went up 1K and he came down 13K realizing I did my homework and we had a deal. $1000 down initially with another 6K to follow.
