You're not getting direct experiences because RV water systems are simple and the components are reliable.
I went to the RV and got out Bob Livingston's RV Maintenance Manual. Most of the troubleshooting items have been covered in this thread: Kinked or Loose Hoses, Strainers, etc. Speaking of strainers/filters, have you seen the little screen washers on washing machine hoses? They're like a garden hose washer, but with a little cone of screen in the middle. Wonder if you have any of those...
Anyhow, Livingston mentions a Check Valve (one way valve) to keep water from draining back to the tank through the pump. He says it can be tested with air. Can blow air in the direction of water flow (arrow marks molded into pump) but not in the opposite direction. If it doesn't flow free in one direction and not at all in the other, should be replaced. Might be able to be cleaned.
