Britetek roof maintenance

Recently purchased a Newmar Bay Star with a Britetek "rubber" roof. What product works best for cleaning it? Will regular auto soap work? I notice that Dicor makes a cleaner and protectorant. Is there any protective coating that should be applied like 303?

Thanks to all who share their knowledge.

yep, my understanding was that it is just a trade name for a TPO type of product. I see in their web site that they also sell a felt backed one which caused the issues for KZ.

  • I have used a rubber roof cleaner and dressing on my travel trailer and 5th wheels. I'm not really sure special products are necessary, but they don't cost a lot more than regular automotive cleaners.
  • I've never done anything on the (3) we've owned since 1999 other than an occasional wash.
  • You should call Newmar support and see what they say. However, rubber roofs need very little care. Simply wash it with dishwashing, car washing, you choose a couple of times a year. You may also want to add a small amount of household bleach. Some people will use a brush some do not. I'm in the don't not camp. I mix up in a 2 gallon yard sprayer water, soap, bleach and spray it on and leave it for 10 - 15 minutes and spray it off. If there are spots left, I repeat.

You do not need to pay for expensive washing or conditioning products. None needed. However, you may want to spray all the plastic vent covers, AC covers with a uv protectant.
  • I never did anything to my Mountain Aire roof except for washing. I did store it inside the 10 years I owned it.
