broken door mirror

The drivers side door mirror was clipped by an oncoming truck while crossing a country road bridge yesterday.
The frame is still intact, but the glass is gone.
Where do I get a replacement glass? and can I install it myself?
Sunseeker 3120 on ford e 450.

Really don't want to try driving back home without the mirror!!!
thanks in advance.

  • thanks,, I'll make a few phone calls, even though it's sunday.
  • If it is a standard mirror a parts store may have it also. Even if its not the right one it might be good enough to get you home until you can have a glass shop make one for you.

If you have what I'll call "Custom" Velvac mirrors mounted on one long arm, a glass shop may be able to fix it. If not, should be able to give you a lead.

We have the basic "rental truck" mirrors as pictured. You can get a complete head that'll mount pretty much anywhere.

Even the chain store auto supplies that are open every day should have a replacement glass for something, and some double-sided tape to attach to what's left of your mirror.

Improvise till you get where you're going then work on details.
  • You Didn't say what year your RV is but if it is a newer one
it is most likely a Velvac Mirror

HERE Is a replacement glass from them, you can order from Ryder or Velvac
Scroll down and there are others there too.

If you know the model # (found on the bottom of the mirror) you can order from them. You can call Velvac @ Toll Free: 800.783.8871

They are very helpful, all you need is the model number and they will walk you thru it.
Good Luck and let us know how it works out.
  • IIRC walmart has some plastic cutable mirror like material that should get you home before a permanent repair.
