Mine would not open from either inside or outside. After taking the door handle apart (thank goodness had access thru the cab)..the pot metal slide had broke and therefore the handles could not activate. Went to local (20miles away) rv supply and bought whole new unit, as parts are not available (at least not for my style/kind). The new one just slipped right in, no modification of the opening in door or sash. Whew, glad it happened BEFORE we left for our trip and get caught somewhere where rv supply may not have been available.
This one wld not open from inside unless I moved a flat brass looking plate inside. It opens from the outside just fine.
Was yours a paddle handle also?
I ordered the inside half of the unit. We'll see.
BTW, the 3/8" drive socket works as long as the plates are aligned inside.
Seems there's always something with an RV. Some of it is my doing dumb things HA!.
But,...I drove this 2000 Minnie Winnie with 21.5k on it from Ak and have over 32.4k on it and no probs till I got to Fl and the AC went out. I didn't use AC till then. No flats or overheating or any sort of mechanical problems..The Triton V-10 engine is a real animal and keeps on ticking while never overheating or using a drop of oil.
Thanks all for the input.
