Broken plastic Atwood hot water heater drain plug

I used a wooden dowel carved to fit inside the plug. I then heated the plug with propane torch. While the plug was soft, I stuck the wooden dowel into the plug and lightly hammered the dowel so it was tight inside the plug. Screwed it out. I kept the dowel just in case.
