To me, the initial purchase is not what will get you into financial trouble. It's all the expenses AFTER that...
Supplies for the RV - have they calculated the cost for hoses, bedding, cooking gear, chairs, tool sets, generator, solar, and on and on.
Toad - do they have one, do they need a dolly, and on.
Campground fees - at what type of places do they want to stay? have they looked at rates?
Fuel costs - the more they go, the more it costs. And don't forget to add in generator and toad fuel to that
Maintenance - tires every X years, batteries, tune ups, and on
Repairs - unexpected issues, possibly on the road when you don't have the ability to wait for finances to turn around.
Insurance and Roadside
These are the things that folks forget to budget for and ends up getting them in trouble financially.
One also needs to consider other parts of their lives. Do you expect to need a new roof in the next 10 years? Are you prepared for any health issues? And on and on.
