Ford recommends oil change every 7,500 miles on V-10. That is 2 for every one on diesel at 15,000.
Math and reading are very interesting studies. :)
That is wAy too long to go on an oil change that is running at 100% of its duty cycle! I always recommend a gas engine oil change every 3-4K miles. I always did 4K miles with mobil1 synthetic.
Your 3-4K is legit for a gasser. However diesel can go longer between changes I use 5-7 K interval without issue
Yes, diesels have always been a longer interval. For me an oil change is cheaper and better than a repair, tow or sitting on the side of the road because the manuf said I can go 7k miles on an oil change!
Always loved the price argument. You spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on something and won’t spend an extra $30-50 a year for an oil change! Or the people that say to always take 20% away from tow capacity when looking for a trailer, but then the same people will want to push an oil change beyond what the manuf recommends. I wish I had the mindset to pick and choose which recommendations to follow!
