Burning Smell

Last night the A/C kicked on and there is now a burning smell throughout the RV. I removed the cover in the ceiling and the metal plate that covers the fan and don't see anything. All the wiring looks fine and it still works ok. Now I really can't tell if the smell came from the a/c or it just pumped it all over the RV. I've opened all the cabinets and don't see anything. I guess my next step is going to be to take the a/c apart on the roof and look around. No breakers tripped and everything works. Any ideas?

Thats the PTCR. It can be purchased separately but I would get the kit that has a new cap too.
They make a heavy duty one that cost twice as much but mine has never blown again.

    Positive Temperature Coefficient Resistor

Im guessing your fan would run but no compressor.

Any RV dealer should have them.

It ran and was cooling. It would freeze you out. That's why I thought it might not be the a/c.
  • UPDATE 2:
Got a new "kit" and installed it. Burned part is history but it still smells inside. Going to leave a/c running with windows open a couple of days. Wife is washing everything down.

Thanks everyone for all the help!
  • If you have ac power to the water heater check that too. Pretty common failure point.
