Burning Smell

Last night the A/C kicked on and there is now a burning smell throughout the RV. I removed the cover in the ceiling and the metal plate that covers the fan and don't see anything. All the wiring looks fine and it still works ok. Now I really can't tell if the smell came from the a/c or it just pumped it all over the RV. I've opened all the cabinets and don't see anything. I guess my next step is going to be to take the a/c apart on the roof and look around. No breakers tripped and everything works. Any ideas?

    It smells like electrical wiring.
  • That happened to me could smell the burnt wires but could not find the problem. Finally found the problem when I went to activate the satellite dish. The wires in the back of the receiver for the satellite had failed and burned. If you have one of these dishes check the back of your receiver.
  • You need to pull the exterior cover off then look for a small metal cover to the capacitor area. Its where the wires from the fan motor go into.

Probably blew a cap or PTCR.
