I would cross out that portion and write "AS IS". Either his mechanic does his job or he doesn't. Have him contract his mechanic under those circumstances and see what happens.

When I sold one of my vehicles, the guy arrived and was a military vet. He agreed to my online price so when he paid me cash, I returned $100, thanked him for his service, and told him to use that $100 for any unexpected repairs that come up. We were both happy with the sale.
