We got out class A without slides, I saw so many with slides, wishing and planning next one. My friend got a TT with 3 slides, over the years, 7 years, they have had nothing but problems with leaks and replacing rotted floors in a good brand TT. Don't know if it was her husband not checking often. I am always looking, questioning anything that seems not right for 11 years. After their last floor replacement....our future class A will not have slides.
I'm not really sure you can compare a class A with slides and a TT with slides. I would think the quality is a little different. We've been RV'ing since 2004 with rentals and then our own unit in 2007. I really have not heard a majority of stories of leaky slides or even major trouble.
We've had a few issues with ours.... twice the computer board vibrated making the connections to come loose. And, I had to have one slide adjusted recently as it is 'pivoting' slide that needs adjust once a year as maintenance (never had it done as I didn't know).... it didn't come in totally straight once so I stopped it without damage and a small adjustment was all that was needed.
Are slides perfect, no, constant trouble, no. Do they give valuable space, an absolute YES. Everyone has their level of comfort and I understand the desire for simplicity. I've just never heard of someone needing to replace flooring or that being a major problem.
