Thanks for the info. I guess I hadn't read closely enough. I though I needed to go West of the Rockies for El Monte. I would have a time/speed/distance problem sitting around for a few days if there were issues and then driving back across country in 10 days off from work. I have family in Louisiana and visit there most years. My RV will also be registered in LA (military, permanent resident in LA) so that would be easy to complete the registration. LA is one of the states that can have 8+% sales tax rates but I benefit from low state taxes relative to most everyone except the no tax states.
On Cruise America vs El Monte, I would like to be in the low 100's tops on mileage. Seems like Cruise America is all 150k plus. El Monte doesn't put mileage but they have RVs at various price points so I'm making a guess. I also like that El Monte offers a variety of brands and models.
With a quick google, El Monte is in Dallas. That is a much more doable return trip for me.
