Well DW and I went to Texas and bought a 2008 (so we thought) Tioga 31M from El Monte. All of the paperwork we signed for financing and such had 2008 listed on it. On our way home to Indiana while driving across Arkansas, DW started looking through the manuals they included. They were all for a 2007 model. We didn't think much of it, we just figured the manuals had gotten shuffled around and the wrong years given to us...that was Monday. Flash forward to today while really going over the unit and looking at other things on it besides leak checking and things to fix...I noticed the tag on the side listing the build date on the house, it was 05/07. That set off a few alarm bells in my head, so I checked the chassis date on the inside of the drivers door and it's 04/07. So now I'm starting to get a little ticked and it only got worse when I looked at the registration paper they had tucked in the on the console, it listed the unit as an 07. Further research today taught me that the 10th digit in the VIN code indicates the model year. Ours is a 7. I've looked at a random assortment of the units listed on El Monte's site and they are all off a year. (the site lists them a year newer than their VIN says they should be).
I have an email into the salesman that helped us and plan on calling him in the morning. I'm more than a little ticked at this because we wanted an 08, and thought we were getting an 08 based on the website and finance documentation. (a big reason was the 5000lb hitch) Shame on me for not verifying the dates on the house/chassis but it never occurred to me that they wouldn't match to what was being listed. Had the date been 2007 on the finance paperwork or anywhere along the line DW or I would have caught it.
Anyone else run into this type of issue with them?
