Hello Fellow Former Rental Owners!!
Quick question on 2012 Thor Majestic 28A's:
I know that the solar panel is for trickle charging the house battery and that it is rated at 2 watts. I think mine is going bad because
it seems to have a crack in it and the house battery was almost dead the last time I had it in the RV (I removed it and took it home to keep it charged). Will it be okay to replace this solar panel with a 10 watt one? I want my house battery to charge a bit faster. Also does anyone know where the solar charge controller is located? I'm thinking it's somewhere behind the microwave (because when I follow the entry point of the cable on the roof) that's where is seems to go down through. I'm guessing I would have to pull out the microwave to access it. Would love to hear any thoughts. Thanks.
I have a 27G Majestic ex Cruise America and I know the panel is the same as the 28G. Possibly your 2012 23A will be the same. Cable from the roof solar panel comes down behind main level control panel which also has the solar panel charge indicator. Remove and see if you have 12V from your panel as on my vehicle it was the indicator that was faulty and not the panel. Suppliers details were on the panel but they would not respond! You can just wire in missing the indicator as such a small trickle.
At the end of the day we have large solar panels kept in the rear storage space and we take out and position where we want on the ground - great in the Autumn when under trees at a site. Renorgy kit comes with charge unit and cable from this is kept coiled on top of the house battery in the locker. Just pull it out and plug into your panels :) No risk of holes leaking in a good roof and we can position in the sun where we want :)
