Not sure you need a Class A MH. You are more used to our Class C MHs which are based on a Ford E450 chassis and can be as large as 34' but something in the 30' size would be what I'd buy and you can still pull a Jeep with one. You can buy used
Cruise America rental units or
Hot Deals. While they tend to have 120,000+ miles, they still have plenty of life left in them and they have been maintained BUT sometimes abused by the renter. You can buy extended warranty on them...probably a good thing in your situation. In this situation I would not be afraid of buying a Thor product...
Majestic 28 as the Ford V10 is a very good/dependable engine/powertrain.
With our low fuel prices running the generator to charge the batteries while dry camping is not that expensive...2 hours/day which equals $3/day. In the summer if you need AC joining
Passport America ($50/year) for half price Full Hook Up camping pays for it in 3 nights. When dry camping elevation and trees make it possible without needing AC.
UScampgrounds.info is very good for finding public CGs and you can see the elevation and a satellite view on its map and it includes Canada. FHU CGs cost anywhere from $20/night to $50. Most of the USFS CGs I stay at cost $12-18/night without hookups and I can go 5-7 days between needing a FHU to dump and take on water. You should be able to go 4-5 days dry camping/boondocking in a Class C before needing a FHU CG.
Diesel is not needed for a MH that small, yes 34' is small by US standards. For Public CGs like SPs, NPs, and USFS CG I can find sites big enough for my 42' MH using the site above. Diesel is only needed for 38'+ MHs unlike where you live with Diesel cheaper than Gas and MPG being important. In the 34-38' MHs there is not much difference in MPG with D or G and here D costs more than G. A 32-36' Gas MHs will get 7-9 MPG so your cost per mile is about ($2.40/8=) $0.30/mile except in California $$ and Canada $$$ where fuel is more expensive.
GasBuddy will save you a lot of $$$ and
Allstays App will help you find Private and Public CGs.
