- pauldubExplorer20-25% for sure, some do better.
- wbwoodExplorerIt depends...We got a little better than 25% on ours.... BUT, the same dealer did not want to even make a similar deal a couple months earlier and even a year earlier. A lot will depend on the dealer and when they want to sell something.
- klutchdustExplorer IICompare one dealer to another even if it is out of state. My concern is the warranties they will offer, read v e r y carefully if you decide to buy one.
Comments posted here have shown some plans are riddled with important exclusions. I do not purchase warranties for anything. Good luck and
take your time. - sato4000ExplorerI got very close to 30 percent on a new class c. I called about 10 dealers all over the country trying to get a lower price. Every time I got a lower price I'd call the other dealers tell them the price and see what they would offer me. Eventually they all started saying they couldn't go any lower and were all quoting me similar prices. Then I took that price to my local dealer he beat it by a little and I bought from him. It's a little bit of work but I do that with cars, and my motorcycles too. Seems to work for me.
- BordercollieExplorerIt varies by dealer, brand, model, time of the year and current local and national market conditions. You and whoever is with you must not show anxiousness to buy, they will try to size you up as knowledgeable or noobs.
Offices are often "bugged". Most extended warranties are full of loopholes and exclusions and do not take effect until the chassis, housebox and appliance warranties run out. Be ready to walk but leave your phone number. Getting your best deal may require further discussions/visits. Dealer's reputation for quick and professional repairs of factory defects is very important, try to contact recent buyers and ask about their experience with after sale fixes. Get any promises about fixes in writing on the sales contract. Poor after sale treatment can ruin the fun of buying a new rig. - Snowman9000ExplorerIf it is a brand sold by RV Direct, get a price from them. Then try to get a dealer in your region to match it. I did that, and the discount was something like 38%. But I feel the MSRP was overstated by the mfr.
- tatestExplorer IIDepends on what you are buying, from whom, when and where. There are Cs sold factory direct, built to order, for which there is really no discount, except what you negotiate when you order. There are C's so much in demand that the dealer cannot get any in inventory, and that might be seller's market prices, MSRP Plus (all sorts of services can be tacked on), yet other dealers might take orders at a 20-30% discount. There are C's that have sat on the lot for 2 years without selling, dealer might discount more than 30%, a lot more if he can get a factory incentive to help move it.
- Grandpa_JoeExplorerWe purchased our Sunseeker from RV direct, $58,000 with a fair amount of options; Big foot leveling system, 15K AC with heat pump, 2nd battery, better interior trim, etc. Local dealers wanted around $73,000 and would not come down. Tried to scare us with warranty issues. I did have one issue with our AC but we have a local Dometic repair technician in the area and he took care of the problem. Going on 6 years and no other issues. I am sure RV direct made a profit on the sale, how much more would the dealer have made?
- NC_RoamerExplorerWe did 24% on ours with our local Jayco dealer and it came with the Warranty Forever coverage. RV Direct was cheaper, but Buffalo, NY is a long way from us. Our dealer being only 12 miles from the house and having a stellar reputation made it worth a few extra bucks.
Good luck. - lcsedsExplorerNC Roamer, was that Bill Plemmons?
