C7 oil pan rust

I have noticed the oil pan on my 2007 coach's C7 Cat has a lot of surface rust on the oil pan with most of the paint peeling off. This is the shallow oil or 19 quart oil pan. I was just wondering if anyone has had the same problem and what they did about it. Maybe I shouldn't worry about it but it does bother me as I don't need a leaky oil pan.:h

    My oil pan got to the point that it had to be replaced - oil was actually oozing out of it. The price for a new Cat pan with gasket in the US is about $400 in Canada it's almost $800, tack on 2 hours labor and it's north of $1000 to fix. You would think that Cat would have figured out a way to keep this part from rusting. My toad is basically the same age and the oil pan is as good as the day it was installed.

    Caterpillar sells their paint in spray cans.

    Sand to good metal (use ospho or other to remove rust if salt has really done a number on the metal).

    Paint with the same paint used at the factory.
