Yes it seems to be longer than needed....but
We push the curtains up on the dash and have to leave a bunch of slack on each side of the windshield. The sun visors fold down to cover the slack we left there.
We also leave slack where it makes the curve to the side windows.
When we are done, the length comes out just about right.
Play with it a little leaving slack where needed and I'm sure you'll find some tricks to make it work better.
we do have one of those that fit around the outside also for when we are going to be staying a while.
