- 2bzy2cExplorer IINot a problem at all. Steep grade going up to Weaverville, but nothing you
will not be able to handle.
There should be some salmon in the Trinity right now. - GaryGusExplorerYou're good to go. Beautiful drive.
- micpib1ExplorerNo problem, just take it easy on the downgrades. I drive this route almost every day. JH
- Executive45Explorer IIII'm assuming you meant ARCATA not Arcadia...IMHO, you can do it but like Hwy 1 along the coast, you won't enjoy the trip...unless it's a necessity I'd try a different route. Lots of twists and turns and grades....Dennis
- 2bzy2cExplorer IINothing like HWY 1. Not even close. Heck the drop offs are only about 50 feet. :D No problem.
On the road outside of Whiskeytown Lake they were doing some pretty serious road construction this summer. Hopefully by now they are done and the road is much wider in sections. - romoreExplorer III drove that road in an underpowered overloaded truck, 6-1/2 hours from Redding to Eureka. :S Beautiful scenery, you won't have a problem if you don't push.
- chris3403ExplorerX2 on the beautiful scenery. Pulled my 35 foot 5th wheel on that route back in August.
- badbob1ExplorerOne of the most beautiful drives you can take. Road is great and no problems with
rv your size. Road work on Buckhorn mountain is wrapped up for the winter. Steelhead now running in the Trinity river.
Enjoy the drive
Badbob - diveman52ExplorerBeen there done that prefer not to do it again !!!!
- TrixExplorerMy wife still trembles when 299 comes up in conversations, but that was our first trip in our Class A and she was not accustomed to riding the white line. I have learned to really ride the yellow line so the DW does not freak out. The curves on 299 are somewhat challenging, but a beautiful drive.
