Wow - sorry to hear you had to go through that but happy you found an alternate source for the replacement. Was it difficult to do?
Did I mention the issue I had with my awning? It decided it didn't want to retract durin our memorial weekend outing. Found the roller tube end cap towards the front is driven by the motor by a shaft drive. The shaft was a 3/4 circle with a flat spot. That slipped into the end cap and turns the entire tube to extend/retract. Well the matching hole in the end cap rounded out somehow. I called Care Free of Colorado and found it was covered by a 4 year warranty! Great customer service from them. You cannot get just the end cap, it comes as a motor/end cap assembly for over $300 if not covered. The new unit drive shaft and end cap now have TWO flat spots which I think will lessen the chance of future failure. Easy enough change over with or without help. Finding a dealer to order one for you might be a problem though on e they realize you're doing it yourself and all they're getting is the warranty part markup. If your unit is still within the 4 year warranty you may want to take care of it before it becomes a problem on the road. They didn't really verify warranty start date - kind of the honor system I guess - but they did want the info found on the tag located on the back of the front arm - visible when extended.
There's my tale of woe. All fixed and happy again. Away in Ohio now - back next week. Loving the new furniture and flooring! Makes sleeping six so much easier.
