Found it behind microwave . Very burned up condition.
Will post more later after repairs
Failure of ATS is most often caused by loose connection. ATS should be check yearly for proper torque on all the connection in box. Without a torque wrench make they are tight. While at it. It is good idea to check all the connections in circuit breaker box.
the ATS in my unit is behind the microwave oven, where you don't know its there or a potential problem. You have to remove the microwave to check it.
The ATS on my unit is the IOTA-50r. per my research, it has a long history of failures and has been recalled by many motorhome manufacturers because it was installed incorrectly or the lugs not torqued to 40 ft/lbs, http://community.fmca.com/topic/3781-transfer-switch-iota-50r/
My unit melted and was near causing a fire.
If it had caught on fire, it is in a bad area, that would be difficult to extinguish a fire. I suspect other manufacturers moved the unit to accessible areas and tourqued the lugs correctly.
I believe I'm having this exact same issue right now. I'm hearing a pop from the ATS and then the generator shuts down.
What ATS did you end up replacing yours with, and was the install straightforward?
Any hints, tips and/or pics would be appreciated.
Thanks.
