Camping Tunica, Ms. What a difference a YEAR makes....SAD !

Not enough gamblers and to many places to gamble. Rv'ers generally are poor gamblers as they do not push enough coins through the machines. Trip last fall to the east coast just astounded us at the number of gambling places that have sprung up. The state of KS even owns the one at Dodge City. The place in Charleston West VA ran us off because I refused to unhook the FROG.

I don't think the regular casinos have to worry about the Indian casinos as they NEVER pay out. And they keep it a secret about how much they do payout! I have been to a couple of Indian casinos and for the amount of time I was there they didn't even pay out two cherries! I do not patronize them any more. At least in regular casinos they would buy you a drink if you were gambling. Indian casino do not. Just my thoughts.

Just to horn in, KOA has purchased Sam's Town on the Boulder Highway, in Las Vegas. (speaking of tourist places) Don't know when they take it over.

Mark, we went down to Isle of Capri. It's just a parking lot but it has full hookups incl sewer, areas to walk your (fufu)dog, pool and spa...all for only $8.15/night including taxes....not bad..we stayed four nights there. Not too many gamblers in the casino.

I think the Harrahs property has value but IMHO the other casinos have to join and form a consortium of sorts and build a theme park like a 6 flags, waterpark, maybe a riverwalk venue with water taxis to all the casinos on the river and some decent shopping to draw the people back in. Right now all they have is Memphis. Helena Arkansas is almost all government sponsored housing. The entire downtown is boarded up and it looks like downtown Detroit. Without federal checks coming in, that place would become a ghost town overnight....headed west and warmer weather.....:).....Dennis

Yep as more states open casinos and more Indian casinos the ones open in areas to bring in people from other states are going to die off, here in Vegas we have to keep changing every year and adding new stuff and new entertainment just to keep the tourist coming back or we will die off..

So Sad! We stayed there several years ago, great way station on trips to Florida. I had wondered recently how it was faring. Thanks for the update.

Sam's Town has great RV Park. Been there recently.

The same thing is happening in Atlantic City N.J. Five or six casinos have closed or will be closed by the end of the year. More and more states are allowing gaming of one type or another diluting the customer pull for major gambling locations.

Looked like a really nice RV park! Maybe someone will take the initiative and at least reopen the campground.
