Wow, almost afraid to post to this topic.
We bought our Thor ACE brand new last November. I know it is the low end motorhome and we did not expect Mercedes in quality but we expected at least a Yugo. We did the walk through with a technician that had less of an idea what all the systems and parts were about than we did. His main answer was it is all in the owner manuals.
We were not able to take it out for several months. We then found out how poor a job the dealer does in prepping the motorhome. They claim they get very little from the mfg for that so they don't do much. My argument - we paid a lot of money (to us) for the coach seems to me somewhere in their profit they could set aside a little for customer relations and properly prep the coach.
On our first outing we discovered they did not properly caulk the drain on the sink. I don't normally do laundry on a 3 night outing, but on this one I did to wash all my damp kitchen linens that I store in that cabinet. We also discovered the oven was not properly installed and only 2 of the 3 burners worked. We found other problems as we've gone out with it and have had to take it in to the dealer.
Unfortunately for us, we live in a resort area so when a local takes a coach in during tourist season we seem to be at the bottom of their list until we start with the squeaky wheel.
On our last outing the electric went out. Fortunately we were camping at Myrtle Beach State Park. We are still under the original warranty and called the dealer. We were told it would be a couple of days before they could come out. We were running off our generator and I'm sure our neighbors in a very full park did not appreciate the noise. We called Thor and a very helpful person told us we could call someone else since there were not other shops locally who are certified Thor service departments. We had to pay upfront and send them the receipt for reimbursement. We called the folks who did a lot of the work on our RVision and they came over within a couple of hours. The problem was the wiring coming in from the shoreline burned out. We are still waiting for the dealer to send someone over to check the problem, that was in early October.
I think what is even more shameful is how they handle used motorhomes. We decided to trade in our RVision rather than sell it ourselves because of water issues. We knew the dealer could repair the problems and then sell it. They went through the checklist when we traded it in and accepted all the deductions for every ding and problem they found. Including water damage - so it was very well known to them. Imagine my surprise when I saw our old RVision for sell on the dealers website and the interior photos showed it with all the problems that I would expect them to fix still there. I hope for who ever purchased it - for almost twice what we got as a trade - that the water issues were fixed.
