Can batteries test "ok", but still be bad?
Let me begin by saying I have no knowledge/skills when it comes to all things mechanical, etc. This saga begins when I was parked for 5 mo season, and used a battery tender on the engine start batter...

Ok I will tell u.If the person know,s how to use battery tester properly that would show up.Assuming U just had not added water to that cell.Batterys need to be fully charged to test proeprly
A battery that was load tested properly that zero cell would show up
anyhow the point was If the OP has his storys straight and the two different people whom charged and load tested his batterys did things correctly and based on his alternater problem and age of his batterys I say his batterys are fine.
This is my opinion and your,s may vary. OP asked for opinion and I gave mine based on my 40 years of doing theses things.
