I tow a 22' enclosed trailer behind the DP in my signature. It has a 10,000 lb hitch with a 1000 lb tongue weight capacity. I have been hauling a UTV weighing 1100 lbs in the front and a 3200 lb Suzuki Grand Vitara in the rear. I recently weighed the tongue with a scale(Sherline) and it weighed 1400 lbs...yikes!The only loading option I have is putting the UTV in front and then load the Vitara backwards so that the engine is behind the axles. This reduced the tongue weight to 1200 lbs. Is 200 lbs over the tongue rating a big No No, or do the manufacturers allow for a little overage? If not, how do I use a WDH on a DP?It has ride height valves(always sits level)no matter how much weight is on the hitch, so how can I know if I am adjusting weight from rear to front of the DP?There are people a lot more knowledgeable than me on here so I welcome any options or suggestions.

a wdh will increase you tongue weight capability. most hitches will have a tag on them telling you what the limit is with and without the wdh.

I would have a heavier hitch put on the DP, or have a certified welder look at beefing yours up.

If you’re receiver is only fastened to a single cross tube I would be concerned but if the receiver continues forwards to a second cross tube forming a H, I would not worry about being over the 1000 lb rating.. Using WDH on a DP is not going to do much other than put more weight on your trailer tires.

Check with you MH manufacturer about using a weight distribution hitch. You will get guesses and onions here, not the actual answer.

You could use one but it isn't going to have any appreciable effect. I would get what you have beefed up As Chris Bryant stated above.

ONIONS?:B I would be more concerned with towing capacity, it sounds like no amount of weight distribution is going to bring him anywhere near it.

Would you like some advice from experience? My partner has the same DP you have and tows a 30ft double stacker with a dragster, a door car, a golf cart, and lord only knows what else in there and no WDH. 10,000lb rated hitch. I myself have a 32 ft tri axel trailer with a door car and an ATV towing with a Monaco with a 10,000lb hitch and no problem. I have used this set up behind 2 other DPs as has my friend. I travel about 20,000mi a year and he may rack up more going to races here in the East. If your hitch is rated at 10,000 a little extra tongue weight won't do anything but help control the trailer....to little and it will wonder all over the road. Hope this helps

My 05 Fleetwood has a sticker on the hitch that says the hitch is rated for 500 pounds no WDH, 1000 pounds with.

If you get welding done disconnect the batteries and open all the breakers.

Might need a different trailer to get weight distributed over axles.
Not sure how the load looks on your trailer but sound like it is not centered over the axles. The total weigh you are hauling is not that great.
I'm not sure it would be in the cards or possible to move axles. If workable I would opt for heavier trailer or longer trailer with axles more forward required by your current trailer length configuration. Weight distribution needs to be different. imo
