There's no way I'd cough up $1000 for something I didn't ask for. When I ordered my Jeep, from Chrysler, they messed up and gave me the SelecTrac transfer case when I had ordered CommandTrac.
When I picked up the vehicle, I didn't notice and they did NOT charge me the difference. After I did figure it out, and after I realized that the SelecTrac was much better I called the dealership to let them know of their mistake and I offered to pay *half* the difference.
They said, they had noticed and they were eating the whole cost.
At best, I'd be willing to halve the cost of the new drivetrain - $500.
