I paid the premium for a used Lazy Daze. When you look an the used pricing you really need to add features like full body paint. The LD comes standard with a lot of features that other RVs do not have. Once I did a second look through the price on the NADA came much closer to the asking price. Add the vent covers, solar, and care taken of the RV by the previous owner I was happy with the price. My bank was too.
That said,
The lack of a generator as others have said depends a lot on how you use it. If you camp mostly where you have hook up or do not need AC you're in good shape (with no generator). I live in Virginia and camp mostly in the MidAtlantic and Southeastern USA. I really like having the generator. I have put over 200 hours on my generator after purchase, but a lot of that was when we had a storm and were without power in the house for a week and a half. It is also nice for running the microwave. So for me a generator is a must.
I noticed that one person mentioned using it to cool their RV while driving. I have not needed the generator in my LD for that purpose. Even while traveling in Florida and in August when the temperature was nearing three digits with very high humidity. Some RVs just breath better because of the floor plan I think. If it is real hot I just crack the rear most vent - the vents are covered so they can be opened while driving - to allow the hot air to exit the RV.
Finally given the age or the RV, I strongly recommend getting the LD looked at by a pro or another LD owner. Because of the wood framing you want to be very careful about water damage and make sure the seams on the roof have been resealed at the proper intervals. If you go the the Life with Lazy Dazers RV mentioned earlier you may get a better feel on the price and help you need.
