Can you use existing Car Jack on your Class B RVs?

I am wondering whether I can use the existing car jack on my 2001 Great West Classic RV. It's built on a Dodge Ram Van 3500 body. I am concerned that the weight of the vehicle may be more than what the jack is designed to safely lift.
Does anyone have experience or know if it should be fine?

Thanks,
Alan

It depends on the jack. There are a bunch of different types of jacks. The old bumper jack, no. The same with the little screw scissors jack, that one just won't have enough lift. If you have a hyrdaulic lever jack, it depends on the rating. A 2 1/2 ton jack under an axle should do just fine. You aren't picking the whole unit up, just one corner. Now, you absolutely DON'T want to use a bottle jack. Those are unsafe for anything in my opinion.

Just changing a tire the jack will be fine but if you're going to work on your unit, get a pair of good jack stands. At least 2 ton rating. I have one that is flat on top as I was sliding it under a large car and the bottle jack popped out.
